CREW SEASON BEGINS WITH DEDICATION OF A NEW FLEET
As the crew season gets under way across North Texas, 11 new boats will be hitting the water. More than $125,000 worth of donations were given to the Cambridge School of Dallas, which celebrated its new fleet at the Crew Boat Dedication Ceremony held on its grounds March 5.
Patrick Hamner, a Park Cities resident and major donor for the new crew boats, has been an active participant in the sport with his son, who has been on the Cambridge team for four years. As a coach, Hamner hopes to equip the team for success.
“The crew program is a vital part of the Cambridge experience,” Hamner said. “I wanted Cambridge to have a fleet of boats to be competitive in this sport and to be equipped to move forward.”
Hamner said he wanted to intertwine the Christian values of the school when naming the boats, which include names such as: Christ Preeminent, Pro Christo, Perseverance and Soli Deo Gloria, which means “for the glory of God alone.”
Cambridge has a successful track record in this sport, boasting four consecutive state championships since 2004 and a national championship in 2006 for the boys’ doubles team.
Since 2002, the Cambridge School of Dallas (grades 5-12)has offered a Christ-centered, college preparatory, classical education to families in the Metroplex area. Its educational philosophy is committed to “Academic Discipleship: Fostering a Love of Learning with a Passion for Jesus Christ,” and seeks to enroll students with average to above-average academic ability and train them to perform at above average academic levels with outstanding leadership levels.
