Clubs

Every Thursday and Friday during flex period, students have the opportunity to participate in a club. Below you will find a list of some of the clubs that have been available in the past. Students are always encouraged to start a new club that piques their interest and advances the mission of Cambridge in some way.

Acoustic Guitar Club – Students bring in songs to practice, and faculty teaches some basic theory.

Chess Club – Students gather to play the popular board game. Avid chess players are encouraged to form a chess team and compete in tournaments.

Christian Music Appreciation Club – This club intends to give students a basic understanding of what is required of any piece of lyrical music in order for it to be deemed of high quality.  As students become more comfortable with their understanding of lyrical music in general, they are then challenged to critique a variety of pieces from each of the musical genres represented in the Christian market.

Current Events -  Students review current events and report to the club each week.  During election years they have mock elections for president.

Latin Club – Students heard lectures about and celebrated the culture of ancient Rome. They studied Roman history and mythology and prepared to participate in local Certamen.

Math Club – Students explore various problems in the field of mathematics under the guidance of a faculty member.

Multicultural Club – A club designed to engage students in dialogue concerning issues that impact their nation, community, and even school related to the diversity of cultures represented in each of those areas.

Philosophy Club – Students meet at a professor’s house once a month, watch debates on DVD and discuss them over pizza.

Radical Club – Students worked through David Platt’s recent book Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream and thought through what the Christian life should look like.

Science Club – A few years ago the students successfully built a hovercraft and rode it in the gym.

Spanish Club – A club dedicated to a deeper understanding of nations whose primary spoken language is Spanish.  Students actively lead each club period by providing information for other students, and engaging there peers with an interactive activity.
