Playing Like a World Champ: Capablanca Fundamentals
José Raúl Capablanca became the third World Chess Champion when he defeated Emanuel Lasker during their 1921 match. Capablanca was undefeated for eight consecutive years. In our beginner course (or for intermediate players who want to review the basics) we will study Chess Fundamentals by José Raúl Capablanca, a classic introduction to chess. We will cover the basic principles of the opening, middlegame, and endgame; learn how to win pawn endgames; look at general opening strategy; study the most common tactics; and explore endgame theory. By the end of the week, you will be ready to stop losing your games in three moves!
